For years, sailing was a quiet calling that Mary never quite answered, even during her time as a surfer living in southern California. Ironically, the spark finally caught in an unexpected place: Fort Worth, Texas, while she was working a grueling schedule on a TV series. What began as local classes on a little manmade Texas lake quickly evolved into a rigorous pursuit of excellence, leading Mary to Florida for ASA certifications and ultimately to the UK for an intensive 17 week professional training program. She emerged with her Royal Yacht Association Coastal Yachtmaster Certification, a feat driven by a deep desire to be challenged and to do something extraordinary. For Mary, transitioning from the landlocked waters of Texas to a professional maritime qualification was a definitive choice to embrace a life of adventure and precision.
